A Fruit Tree in every garden!
Apart from the sheer joy of growing, picking and eating your own healthy fresh fruit, fruit trees produce fresh oxygen so they are good for our environment they also contribute significantly to a healthy ecosystem for wildlife. Fruit trees and their blossom provide a home and food for a wide range of bees, insects and may different species of wildlife. Since 1900 the UK has lost 13 species of bee and 35 are under threat of extinction. (source: Friends of the Earth).

We are promoting the many benefits of planting a tree, growing fruit and building a garden community orchard across our town. We have 25 young heritage organic apple trees to give away to residents of Stourbridge for free or on a pay-as-you-feel basis. We feel there will be more of a commitment to the tree and our project if people make a donation towards their cost. This will enable us to buy more trees in the Autumn and continue the scheme then.

We are promoting our Fruit Tree giveaway through this digital form on our website and our facebook page. We hope to attract people new to growing fruit and people who do not already have a tree in their garden.

Our aim is to have a fruit tree in every garden in Stourbridge. We hope to inspire everyone who has one of our trees to enjoy watching their tree grow, talking about it with their neighbours and friends so that more people will want to have a fruit tree in their garden.

We are grateful to the Transition Network and the National Lottery Community Fund for the grant of £500 to launch this project.
